April Point Resort - Campbell River & Vancouver Island

Introduction:

It’s the true West Coast feel that strikes you first, so conveniently close to Vancouver and so delightfully different! Friendly staff, top quality fishing and the feel of home is what keeps guests returning. Located on the shore of Quadra Island, the resort is a short 10 minute water taxi ride (free) from Painters Lodge / Campbell River. Activity choices feature daily guided fishing trips, wildlife tours (by zodiac) and bikes to explore Quadra Island. Guests love the Aveda Spa, constructed over the water with views of landscaped gardens and forest. April Point’s central dining room and bar are popular meeting points, where warm atmosphere, new friends and fabulous views combine to make guests feel at home. The resort’s fine cuisine reflects the outstanding culinary talents found on Canada’s west coast. Guests also have charging privileges at Painter’s Lodge for everything from dining to fishing trips.

Quick tips from our trip:

From start to finish this resort has the feel of wearing your favourite clothes, it just feels right. Hard to define in words, but virtually everyone had the same sense of being at home in your own resort. Nice international mix of guests made the evening’s great fun in the large dining room. We laughed a lot! The food was exactly what we wanted - good, healthy portions for hungry outdoors people, beautifully prepared with an interesting menu. Thumbs up to the chef! We’d return to April Point in a heartbeat.

Location & How To Get There:

The resort is situated on the southern tip of Quadra Island and reached from Campbell River / Painters Lodge in 10 minutes by boat. Quick (approx. 45 minutes) and convenient flight connections from Vancouver (South Terminal) to Campbell River plus courtesy shuttle to the lodge and you can be fishing by lunchtime! Alternatively, guests may drive to Painter's Lodge and leave their cars there. The region has a myriad of islands offering an unbeatable combination of wildlife and natural beauty.

Amenities:

The acclaimed Aveda Spa at April Point is the perfect place to pamper yourself after a day spent enjoying the great outdoors – after all feeling good is part of what vacations in Canada’s West are all about. Aveda signature treatments include Aroma Hydrotherapy Tub with Chromatherapy, and Sport Massage (designed for the guy on the go, targets those sore, aching muscles).

Accommodation:

The resort features 49 rooms and a variety of cabins, suites and houses to suit  individual needs. Perfectly suited to the island environment – a rustic West Coast decor theme is carried through the main lodge and guest rooms.

Activities:
Fishing (including guided salmon fishing trips and boat charters), whale watching, golfing, spa treatments, wildlife adventures, kayaking in Gowlland Harbour and bike or scooter rentals to explore Quadra Island can be arranged and purchased on site. Fishing is the top attraction and the very professional staff will help get you set up quickly and with everything you need. Boats are top of the line and the guides are real pros! A well run operation, these people have been in the business a long time – and know exactly what keeps guests happy.

Dining:

The cuisine at April Point Resort is a daily highlight. Menu features fresh seafood, pastas, and meat dishes. BC’s classic western cuisine forms a large part of the dining experience and often includes locally grown, fresh produce. The Sushi Bar is a popular venue while after dinner guests may enjoy relaxing in the fireside lounge in the main lodge. The dining room encourages guests to linger and enjoy the incredible views.
