CLAYOQUOT WILDERNESS RESORT - THE OUTPOST at BEDWELL RIVER

Introduction:
One of the iconic resorts of Canada’s West, Clayoquot is a must! Unique in every sense, Clayoquot Resort combines luxury and wilderness like few others. In the classic style of the Great Camps of the 19th century, the style and feel of the The Outpost stirs images of East Africa long ago in another era.

Location and Getting there:
Located in the fragile environment of Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve amidst some of the most beautiful scenery on the West Coast, The Outpost is accessed from Tofino.
From Vancouver, sea plane flights are included and operate on set departure days. Or if you prefer and are travelling by car on Vancouver Island, a short flight or boat transfer is included from Tofino.

The Resort:

With a cluster of 23 luxurious white canvas tents, guests are accommodation in the lap of luxury. Beautifully appointed tents allow guests to sleep under a rainforest canopy in secluded luxury. Appointed with charming west coast style, tent interiors have beautiful furniture, comfy beds plus all the trimmings of a four star resort room.

The spa is set again a beautiful natural backdrop and is in 3 tents with views overlooking the Bedwell River. By evening, oil lamps and torches light the spa and in this romantic scene guests can enjoy the wood-fired sauna and secluded hot tubs.

Accommodation:

All 11 deluxe guest tents offer a choice of 1 queen or 2 single Adirondack-style beds with luxuriant down duvets. Remote-controlled propane wood stoves, antique dressers and tea tables, opulent rugs, oil lamps, heirloom china and silver accessories, and an abundance of candles, complete the offering. Family tents offer the same queen bed comfort as the deluxe guest tents, but are furnished with a convertible chesterfield (with premium queen mattress), and a larger lounge area with a small games table.

Activities:

Activities at The Outpost include horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, whale and bear viewing plus fresh and salt water fishing. Guides are true wilderness experts who bring the nature and heritage of this extraordinary region alive. A stable of 20 horses are available for guest riders to travel quiet trails towards the edge of Strathcona Provincial Park. Once a gold prospecting region, nearby Bear City went through a boom and bust era until it became a ghost town and disappeared. Bear sightings are commonplace and best spotted late summer as they graze on plants, betties and spawning salmon.
