Eagle Nook Wilderness Resort & Spa

Introduction:

Positioned on Vancouver Island’s fabulous Barkley Sound, Eagle Nook Resort combines the extraordinary beauty of Canada’s West Coast with quick and easy access. The Resort offers a comfortable sanctuary set within a beautiful wilderness. A combination of comfortable accommodation, professional staff, friendly ambiance, excellent service and fine food make this a stay to remember.

Barkley Sound is a remarkable maritime region of islands, remote beaches and rain forests. The Broken Island group form part of BC’s Pacific Rim National Park. Wildlife is often spotted - bald eagles, deer and heron are regular neighbours! At the right time you may spot black bear, gray whales or orcas. The clear waters of Barkley Sound are popular with recreational divers, where the natural collage of sea anemones and starfish carpet the ocean floor.

Location & Getting Here:

Sea plane flights operate from Seattle right to the lodge! From Vancouver, direct flights are available to Tofino where a shuttle transfer to Ucluelet and water taxi connections operate to Eagle Nook. If you have a rental car, you may drive to Ucluelet park and take the daily water taxi.

Amenities:

The Resort offers numerous activities, spa treatments, a Jacuzzi, relaxing patios, and a beautiful ocean view dining room and lounge.

Accommodation:

Eagle Nook Resort offers 23 spacious rooms or cozy natural log cabins for more privacy and flexibility. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with tub and shower, mini-balconies and views of either Vernon or Jane Bays. Fluffy towels and waffle-weave robes are included. The one-bedroom cabins feature a king-size bed, sitting area with a free-standing wood fireplace, kitchenette and outside deck with views - all the same comforts as lodge rooms.

To ensure guests have complete peace and quiet the rooms and cabins have no television or telephones. Telephone and internet services are found in the lobby with TV news and entertainment in the library.

Activities:

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the location! Sea kayaking in Barkley Sound is world famous and hiking trails near the lodge weave through dense rainforests and cliff top clearings. Helicopter flights take you to Cougar Annie's Garden, up island to the Estevan Point Lighthouse or the Nahmint Plateau. Half day marine cruises are available aboard the lodge’s 19 foot cruiser; guides introduce you to the diverse wildlife including sea lions, bald eagles and whales.

Fishing:

Sport fishing is big! These waters are the favoured habitat for several species of Pacific Salmon, halibut and feisty ling cod and rockfish. In the Spring (late May) expect the young coho (silver salmon) as well as Chinook (king salmon) weighing up to 25 pounds. Late June and July is the sockeye salmon run in Barkley Sound while July, August, September are the best months for the returning king salmon –often weighing 20 to 50 pounds. In September, the northern silvers arrive. Halibut fishing is abundant throughout the season, during June & July fish can reach 100 pounds or more!
