Helmcken Falls Lodge
Situated at entrance to Wells Gray Provincial
Park. The lodge is ideally positioned to
explore. With an interesting history dating back
to 1922, the owners have restored the main lodge
to reflect its classic design while maintaining
the essential comfort levels and offering fine
hospitality. The wilderness setting is a hit
with outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and the
wide choice of activities keeps families active
all day. It’s the sort of place you will likely
meet and likely make new friends for life. The
restaurant’s reputation is the best in the
region. The lodge projects a comfy and cozy
atmosphere while the informality is a true
holiday pleasure. Gathering around the bar and
restaurant in the evening to swop stories and
talk of big adventures is one of the most looked
forward to moments.
Helmcken Falls is accessed from Clearwater (Hwy
97). Reached easily by car in a day from Banff,
Jasper, Kamloops, Whistler and Vancouver.
Rooms
are simple, clean, comfortable and adequate.
Near the main lodge, accommodation is found two
separate buildings with views. All rooms have en
suite bathrooms. For outdoor and
active guests
the lodge accommodation fits the criteria and
you will right at home. Family rooms available
with assorted bedding arrangements.
Selected by the B.C. Parks Authority as one of a
few lodges allowed to provide guided services
within the park. Guided hiking, canoeing and
horse-back riding are the most popular. The
guided trail rides through Wells Gray Park
introduce you to nature and the history of
original settlers. Rides are geared to the
experience of individual and suitable for novice
riders. Overnight Trail Rides; journey through
the BC’s scenic country where old log cabins,
outdoor camping, hearty campfire meals and old
growth forests all blend together for a
memorable experience. Guided hiking and canoe
trips explore the beautiful wilderness of Wells
Gray with an experienced naturalist. By foot and
canoe this is an informative introduction into
Canada’s beautiful natural world. All day canoe
adventures on Clearwater Lake in the heart of
Wells Gray Provincial Park offer stunning views
of Mt. Huntley and Garnet Peak. Home to Bald
Eagles and Osprey plus you’ll likely come close
to loons and hear their calls across the water.
Great
meals served in the upstairs dining room. Food
is good, wholesome and the menu reflects
traditional Canadian cooking with a touch of
European influence. Dining room ambiance is
perfect after an active and busy day outdoor –
noisy, friendly and busy. People having fun and
enjoying the meals!
