Purcell Mountain Lodge

Introduction:

One of the iconic locations of the Canadian Rockies. Guests are surrounded by soaring peaks and alpine meadows, Purcell Lodge is the Rocky Mountains! The beautiful alpine environment, far above the busy highways and tourist routes allows guests to experience its stunning location without vehicle access. The lodge has earned a well-deserved reputation as the finest hiking lodge in the Canadian Rockies. Appealing to all nature lovers, Purcell’s 7,200ft location opens a door for guests to enjoy alpine meadows and wildflowers or for experienced hikers to trek over 9,000 ft . The lodge offers a selection of professionally guided hikes and outdoor activities which showcase the high country surrounding Glacier National Park. Sharing similar interests guests will discover a warm atmosphere where new friendships are easily made. Purcell Lodge combines all the comforts of a full service lodge in the mountains without crowds or highways.

 

Location & How to Get There:

Access to the lodge is by helicopter from Golden, British Columbia. Lying at the Junction of Trans Canada Highway and highway 95 it is easily reached from Calgary, Okanagan or Vancouver. Safe car parking at heliport. Flight time to lodge is a short 15 minutes. Nearest major airport is Calgary. Purcell Lodge is close to Lake Louise, Banff and Yoho National Parks.

 

Amenities:

Designed with outside balconies, comfortable living room, fireplace, library, sauna and clothes drying room, the lodge is well suited to the mountain side location.

 

Accommodation:

The lodge has 10 private guest rooms. Maximum 30 guests. All rooms on shared bathroom basis – except honeymoon suite. Bedding lay-out: 4 corner rooms with queen bed; 4 rooms with queen bed and twin bunk; 2 rooms with queen bed and 3 twin bunks.

 

Activities:

Summer activities feature: hiking, meadow walks, alpine photography and painting opportunities. In addition Purcell Lodge offers the best hiking in the Rockies – right from the front door. From its unique location at 7,200 feet guests are offered daily guided hiking trips or alternatively, free to explore alone. Trails are a mix of alpine walks or treks to higher elevations. Guided daily outdoor programs.

 

Cuisine:

Casual gourmet dining with healthy robust menus. Meals are served family style and menus are planned for people who enjoy being outdoors and working up an appetite. Dining room is a social focal point with great, panoramic views.

 

Travel Tips:

The Rockies are romantic - a place to celebrate special occasions. Honeymooners will find the unique mountain location guarantees privacy while honeymoon suite offers all expected amenities. For best Rockies experience combine Purcell Lodge with Emerald Lake Lodge. Just 45 minutes apart by car, both lodges are different and embrace the Canadian Rockies like few others.
