Location and Getting there:

Found in the heart of beautiful Desolation Sound, Sonora Resort raises the bar on wilderness quality and comfort. In just 47 minutes by helicopter from Vancouver’s International Airport you are in another world, literally! The crystal clear salt water surrounding the resort makes the experience more like an intimate luxury cruise liner while professional and friendly staff take care of everything from start to finish. You will never want to leave.   From Vancouver International Airport, daily helicopter or seaplane service is available – flight time 47 minutes. Or if you make your own way to Campbell River, Sonora’s daily water taxi offers a scenic alternative and recommended for those travelling by car. From Seattle; daily seaplane service is operated by Kenmore Air (customs cleared Vancouver Island).

Amenities:
The experience at Sonora is more like an intimate, luxury cruise liner; you can choose a barbecue on the deck or fine dining seven course dinner, complimented by fine wines. Additional entertainment includes movie theatre while golfers can enjoy top of the range, 12 foot simulator screens. Fabulous spa on site is a key feature offering a range of services (additional cost applies).

The award winning chef is a master and the cuisine is complimented by a fine wine cellar with a Canadian focus. 

Accommodation:
All rooms are gold deluxe with guaranteed ocean views while décor and interior design varies in character. Lodges have private balconies with hot tubs on deck.

Activities:
Guest activities read like a Canadian dream list: premium salt water fishing, fly fishing, Grizzly bear viewing (late August-October), marine wildlife nature tours, sea kayaking, golf excursions to Vancouver Island. Plus helicopter fishing, sightseeing and hiking are all available.  With a fleet of fast boats and professional guides on hand, sport fishing is hugely popular. Salmon fishing season is year round for Chinook/King. Coho/Silver Mid June through September. Pink Salmon July + August; Chum September + October and famous Sockeye July + August.

Travel Tips:
Fishing should be pre-arranged at time of booking to optimize access to guides and boat time. Professional fish packing and freezing facilities on site.
