Rocky Mountaineer - Kicking Horse, Yellowhead and Fraser Discovery

 

 

Showcasing the diverse beauty of the West, our two-day, all-daylight Canadian Rockies train tours offer you three spectacular rail routes to choose from.  Each with its own unique sights; all three will leave you with memories of our Rocky Mountain rail tours to last a lifetime. 

The world-renowned Kicking Horse, Yellowhead and Fraser Discovery routes all feature the breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Rockies and spectacular onboard service. Each route includes an overnight stay in comfortable accommodations to ensure you miss nothing along the way. 

 

 

Kicking Horse Route - Vancouver to Banff or Calgary via Kamloops or vice versa:  

Day 1: Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops in the heart of British
Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Transfer provided to hotel. Overnight in Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 2: Kamloops to Banff or Calgary
Transfer provided to train. Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular range of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include Craigellachie where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels, and of course the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends in the resort town of Banff or Calgary this evening. Breakfast and lunch included.

Included are: RedLeaf or GoldLeaf rail service, meals as noted above, and overnight accommodation in Kamloops.

Yellowhead Route - Vancouver to Jasper via Kamloops or vice versa:  

Day 1: Vancouver to Kamloops

Day 2: Kamloops to Jasper
Transfer to provided to train. Your journey continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), Pyramid Falls, as well as the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends on arrival in the resort town of Jasper this evening. Breakfast and lunch included.

Fraser Discovery Route - Whistler to Jasper via Quesnel or vice versa:  

Day 1: Whistler to Quesnel
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the mountain resort town of Whistler to the charming rural town of Quesnel, the gateway to the North Cariboo. Enjoy breathtaking and varied scenery, from the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley, to the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon and the Cariboo Plateau with its rolling hills and vast ranchlands. Highlights include the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacial fed Seton Lake, sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel, your overnight destination. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 2: Quesnel to Jasper
Your journey continues eastward today to the majestic Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park. From Quesnel the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River north to the town of Prince George and then travels east through the forests of Northern British Columbia, home to plentiful wildlife including a large population of moose. Entering the Rocky Mountain Trench you are surrounded to the north by the steeply rising Rocky Mountains and to the south by the Cariboo Mountains. Continue climbing past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), and through the Yellowhead Pass into the province of Alberta. Your rail journey ends today on arrival in the resort town of Jasper. Breakfast and lunch included.
