Cruise, Bears & Whales Tour



Begin your driving tour in Vancouver and travel through British Columbia's interior to Prince George. Then head back towards the coast to Prince Rupert, where you will travel the spectacular Inside Passage by ferry to Port Hardy. This self-drive continues on Vancouver Island, with its beautiful coastline and quaint towns. While on the island, experience the variety of wildlife that make this region home: from Telegraph Cove enjoy a bear viewing tour, and get out on the water from Victoria for a whale watching tour.
 

 

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver and transfer in limo to your overnight accommodation (included). Remainder of day free. Stay 2 nights at a B&B in Vancouver. 

Day 2: Vancouver
A full day to visit beautiful Vancouver. Enjoy spacious Stanley Park with its totem poles and aquarium, Chinatown and the Capilano Suspension Bridge on the North Shore.  Have lunch in historic Gastown and shop till you drop on Robson Street. Overnight at a B&B in Vancouver.

Day 3: Vancouver – Whistler (140km / 2 hrs)
Pick-up rental car and drive towards Whistler. Explore Vancouver's north shore with the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Lynn Canyon. Then drive along the 'Sea to Sky' Highway to the alpine resort of Whistler. Overnight at a B&B in Whistler.

Day 4: Whistler - 100 Mile House (308km / 4.25 hrs)
Leave Whistler on quiet roads through the Coastal Mountains. Pass through the native town of Lillooet, on the banks of the Fraser River. The Goldrush route brings you to the historic Hat Creek Ranch and Clinton. Overnight at a hotel in the Cariboo region in 100 Mile House.

Day 5: 100 Mile House - Prince George (328km / 3.5 hrs)
Today's historic route brings you via the Alexandria Trail to the Gold Rush area of the Caribou region. Overnight at a B&B in Prince George.

Day 6: Prince George - Smithers (370km / 4 hrs)

Travel from Prince George to Smithers, a town that combines rural warmth and top class hospitality with outdoor adventure packages. Enjoy quaint coffee bars and art galleries downtown. For outdoor enthusiasts Smithers is a Mecca; hiking trails, bike routes, rafting and horseback riding are available locally. Overnight at a B&B in  Smithers.

Day 7: Smithers - Prince Rupert (355km / 4 hrs)
Drive along the Skeena River, where Indian tribes once lived, to Prince Rupert. Discover the traditions of the Tsimshians natives and the colorful history of this town. Overnight at a B&B in Prince Rupert.

Day 8: Sailing through Inside Passage to Port Hardy
Thousands of years ago the Ice Age sculptured the many fjords of the Inside Passage. A full day on this scenic ferry will let you enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery and marine life of the Pacific. Overnight on Vancouver Island at a B&B in Port Hardy.

Day 9: Port Hardy – Telegraph Cove (50km / 1 hr)
Visit quaint Telegraph Cove and maybe take a whale-watching trip. Overnight in a hotel in Telegraph Cove. Breakfast is NOT included during stay at Telegraph Cove.

Day 10: Telegraph Cove
Today a bear viewing excursion is included. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure in Telegraph Cove. Overnight in a hotel in Telegraph Cove.

Day 11: Telegraph Cove - Victoria (463km / 5.75hrs)
Enjoy Canadian culture as you see the murals on the buildings in Chemainus and the totem poles in Duncan.  Continue to BC’s capital city, Victoria. Overnight 2 nights at a B&B in Victoria.

Day 12: Victoria
A full day to explore Victoria's Parliament Buildings, the Fisgard Lighthouse, the Royal British Columbia Museum with superb native art. Or take a whale-watching trip on the ocean. Overnight 2 nights at a B&B in Victoria

Day 13: Victoria - Vancouver
Return to Vancouver across the Strait of Georgia and enjoy Vancouver the rest of the day before your tour comes to an end. Recommended flight departure time after 15:00H.

Services included:   

10 nights accommodation in B&Bs and 2 nights in tourist to moderate class hotels, 11 day midsize car rental with unlimited kilometers*/ Lost Damage Waiver (LDW)/ Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), limo transfer from Vancouver Airport to downtown Vancouver hotel/B&B upon arrival, ferry (passenger and car space) from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy, bear-viewing excursion from Telegraph Cove, whale-watching excursion from Victoria, provincial accommodation and sales taxes.

 

* SUV and Minivan rental vehicles will only include 200km/day.

 

Not included: meals other than breakfast when included at a B&B, national park entrance fees, optional activities, gratuities, gas and GST.
