Sunshine Coast & Vancouver Island B&B Tour

 

Visit two fabulous summer destinations in Vancouver Island and West Canada’s Sunshine Coast on this 10-day self-drive tour. The long white sand beaches of Pacific Rim National Park on the western coast of Vancouver Island and the deep blue waters of the sunshine coast offer you the best water and beach activities during your summer holiday. Combined with other outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, whale watching, fishing and breathtaking scenery, your holiday will be full of unforgettable summer fun!


 

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver on own and transfer in limo to your overnight accommodation (included). Remainder of day free. Stay 2 nights at a B&B in Vancouver. 

Day 2: Vancouver
A full day to visit beautiful Vancouver. Enjoy spacious Stanley Park with its totem poles and aquarium, Chinatown and the Capilano Suspension Bridge on the North Shore.  Have lunch in historic Gastown and shop till you drop on Robson Street. In the evening, pick-up your rental car. Overnight at a B&B in Vancouver.

Day 3: Vancouver - Powell River (177km / 4.25 hrs - including ferry)
Drive to Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver; departures to Gibsons / Langdale every two hours. Sailing time across Howe Sound is about 45 minutes. Today's drive is scenic and leisurely - take the time to explore the charming village of Gibsons with its quaint harbor and shops. Enjoy 1 more ferry ride between Earls Cove and Saltery Bay before your arrival in Powell River.  Stay two nights at a B&B in Powell River.

Day 4: Powell River
Enjoy today at your leisure in Powell River - explore both this town and the nearby community of Lund. You may also consider taking a cruise into Desolation Sound. Overnight at a B&B in Powell River.

Day 5: Powell River - Campbell River (90km / 2.5 hrs)
Upon arrival in Campbell River you are in the “Salmon Capital of the World” (as the town claims to be). You have the day to explore the area or to enjoy a fishing charter to catch the famous salmon. Quadra Island, reached by ferry from Campbell River, is a fairly well developed island with numerous of visitor amenities. Cortes Island, reached by ferry from Quadra Island, is great for beachcombing and forest walks. The inlet waters in the area sometimes reach tropical temperatures and are great for swimming. Overnight at a B&B in Campbell River.

Day 6: Campbell River - Tofino (273km / 4 hrs)
The drive to Vancouver Island’s eastern coast takes you through miles of forest area. The highway south to Tofino passes through the Comox Valley, a pastoral agricultural area, where you often will find farm stands with fruits and vegetables along the road. Overnight at a B&B in Tofino.


Day 7: Tofino
Today enjoy a whale watching tour from Tofino (included). Other options for activities include exploring the beautiful white sandy beaches, driving to Long Beach to watch surfers, going for short or longer hikes, or trying a guided kayaking trip. In the evening enjoy a delicious dinner at a great restaurant on the beach. Overnight at a B&B in Tofino.


Day 8: Tofino - Victoria (325km / 4.5 hrs)

Victoria’s character is an engaging mix of old and new, British and Asian, colonial and New World. High tea still is served at the Empress Hotel. You can find delighted teahouses and a wax museum, you will see old-fashioned horse-drawn carriages and splendid formal gardens. The Asian cultural heritage, which arrived with the waves of immigrant workers from across the Pacific Ocean, has brought a flavourful diversity to Victoria. Overnight at a B&B in Victoria.


Day 9:  Victoria
Discover Victoria’s sights such as the Inner Harbour, the Royal BC Museum, Crystal Garden, Thunderbird Park and Helmcken House. Enjoy a whale watching cruise or drive to 21 km north of Victoria to Butchart Gardens, an impressive floral display on fifty-five acres land. Overnight at a B&B in Victoria.

Day 10: Victoria - Vancouver (110km / 3.5 hrs)
Return to Vancouver across the Strait of Georgia and enjoy Vancouver the rest of the day before your tour comes to an end. Recommended flight departure time after 15:00H.

9 nights accommodation in B&Bs, limo transfer from Vancouver Airport to downtown Vancouver B&B upon arrival, 8 day midsize car rental with unlimited kilometers*/ Lost Damage Waiver (LDW)/ Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), whale watching tour out of Tofino, provincial accommodation and sales taxes.

 

* SUV and Minivan rental vehicles will only include 200km/day.

 

Not included: meals other than breakfast when included at a B&B, national park entrance fees, optional activities, gratuities, gas and GST.
