Classic Canadiana - The Historic
Lund Hotel
Everyone loves the Historic Lund Hotel, unique
on BC’s Sunshine Coast it grew out of the early
west coast logging era. Lund, settled in 1892
originally relied on steam boat connections with
Vancouver. Today, Highway 101 links Lund to the
world – in fact you can drive 15,020 km to
Puerto Monte in Chile. 101 is the longest
highway in the world. The hotel is the centre of
town and where everyone meets. Great family spot
in summer and the outside deck is the place to
be.
28 km north of Powell River on
northern tip of the Sunshine Coast. It lies at
the end of the road and reached by car and BC
Ferries from Vancouver and Comox on Vancouver
Island. Gateway to Desolation Sound, Lund is a
boaters paradise and important marine supply
point. Good moorage in harbour.
Guests can take water taxi to
explore nearby Savary Island with it’s white
beaches and virtually traffic free streets.
Recommended for families, there is lots to see
and do outdoors. Explore the local hiking and
bike trails.
21 Standard and 7 deluxe rooms,
all with private en-suite facilities. Rooms are
clean, adequate, comfortable and good value.
The outdoor restaurant deck is the place
for hot summer days. Serving best fresh fish &
chips on the coast! Good family style menu at
reasonable prices. Nice interior restaurant and
bar. Excellent fresh seafood available.
First built in 1895 by two
Swedish pioneers in the tiny logging settlement
of Lund on BC’s rugged coastline north of
Vancouver. Lund’s first jail cell was housed in
the basement of the hotel – just a short walk
for the newly arrested barroom rowdies! Fire
took its toll and a larger hotel replaced the
original in 1918. As maritime traffic grew the
Lund Hotel became established and was ‘The’
place to stay! Refurbished extensively in 1999,
the hotel still carries the grace of it’s
earlier times. Upper floor wooden veranda’s are
period and offer stunning sea views.
Recommended for families. Hotel
best reached by car. Nearby Savary Island is
accessed by water taxi and a popular local
attraction. Lund can be included into most of
our west coast self drive itineraries and one of
the prettiest parts of the coast. Convenient for
Powell River – Vancouver Island ferry service.
