of Canada's Okanagan
 The
Okanagan Valley lies about midway between
Vancouver and the Rocky Mountains and produces
about 95% of BC wines. Here dry, hot summers
help make perfect growing conditions and set
amidst the Cascade Mountains the valley has over
70 wineries. The southernmost sector sees a
concentration of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and
Pinot Noir. Syrah and Shiraz wines have also
seen success in the south, while Northern
Okanagan is better suited to Chardonnay,
Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and
Pinot Gris.
